A Midsummer Night’s Dream Wedding
The tale of dreams and enchantment by none other than Shakespeare himself, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, is the epitome of romance and magic. So what better story is there to base a wedding on? We love the plot and themes of this epic comedy by the world’s most famous playwright and think it’s full of great ideas. It’s not just the royal wedding which sets the premise of the play, but the whimsical characters and the indescribable charm that oozes in between every line and sonnet. Whichever part of A Midsummer Night’s Dream is your favourite, it’s safe to say that it’s the perfect inspiration for a wedding. And with spring hot on our tails, there’s never been a better time to get planning celebrations for the summer months.

Planning your wedding's colour scheme
We’ve done plenty of different themed wedding posts recently but they’ve also concentrated on colour schemes. Whilst this blog post doesn’t focus specifically on any particular colours, we can recommend a few that we think will work. A Midsummer Night’s Dream is generally associated with three things: magic, the forest and love. Combine these concepts with a dream-like state and you end up with a pretty gorgeous colour palette.
We imagine a wedding based on a Midsummer Night’s Dream to be full of pinks, blues, greens in soft pastel shades. You can also incorporate navy and dark green to really bring about the atmosphere of a dreamy forest at night! Alongside this, deep purples also work due to the royal-esque nature of a Midsummer Night’s Dream. Put it this way, a forest (especially a magical one) is full of various floral shades so the choice is yours to make when it comes to colour palettes.
Bridal outfit ideas
The star of the show is always the bride, of course. Here are some of our ideas to make you (or your bridal friend) the perfect forest queen.
Floral headdresses are an amazing accessory which can help you to introduce the theme without being too overbearing. Intertwining leaves and delicate flowers into plaits or around the head looks super pretty. Why not have a look at some of our favourite examples from our Pinterest board?
The dress should include lots of delicate details to really push that romance theme, but essentially anything flowing and playful is going to work. We particularly like wedding dresses with long sleeves, especially if you’re having an outdoor wedding - no more goosebumps on the photos! Wedding stationery
Obviously, no wedding is complete with the perfect invitation to really kick things off. Picking out your stationery and sending RSVP cards out to guests is when you can really start to get excited about your big day.
Fortunately for you, we also have the perfect collection of stationery for your Midsummer Night’s Dream wedding. Our Helena design is, of course, aptly named after one of the loved-up, female characters of the Shakespeare play. We’ve used a beautiful watercolour mixture of greens and blues to create that mysterious forest theme. The fairytale-esque illustrative font just finishes off the look - we love it! You can order all the stationery you’ll need for your big day using this collection: RSVP cards, table plan, invitations, menu cards… and the list goes on. Shop the range by clicking here!
